Word by Heart in Mexico

Dear family and friends,

At the end of this month Jackson will be going on an amazing trip to present the scriptures at the UofN workshop in Tijuana Mexico. Last January quarter Jackson followed a course called “Word by Heart” where he memorized the entire Gospel of Mark. He has done several presentations of this gospel around here in Kona and he has now been asked to present and help train others at the UofN workshop in Mexico. When we first heard about this opportunity we had two concerns: visa and finances. It turns out however that with Jackson’s student visa he is allowed to go to Mexico and return provided it is no longer than 30 days. So when this concern had been dealt with we prayed and asked the Lord to provide if he wanted Jackson to go. A friend of ours introduced Jackson to a YWAM base leader who connected with Jackson right away. He said that if finances were a reason for him not to come to Mexico, he would help out in that area. Last week we received an e-mail confirmation that this man booked and paid for Jackson’s entire flight! So August 26th he is really going for 2 weeks!
It is also going to be the first time that Jackson will be away from me since we had children. When I gave birth to Hope I remember not wanting Jackson to travel at all (ever!), because it seemed so hard to be alone with a child all by myself. But something changed after the birth of REJoyce. I sense the Lord’s release and His confidence that although it is not an easy thing, He is going to give me the wisdom, grace and strength I will need to be at home with the girls. And on top of that I am so excited to see what the Lord will do through my husband as he travels.

We have more celebration news and that is that on July 28th REJoyce Zoe was dedicated in our church here. It was such a special occasion. We had invited Loren & Darlene Cunningham (Founders of YWAM and the people I assist) and David & Christine Hamilton (our spiritual parents here in Kona and also leaders on the campus) and our friend Yvette from Cameroon to stand with us in this dedication and pray a blessing over REJoyce. It was such a beautiful time of prayer and dedicating our daughter to the Lord. REJoyce continues to grow healthy and strong and she is already having so much fun with her big sister Hope. Hope loves her little sister, and she wants to help calm her down when she is crying and so on. The other day she came home with Jackson and was downstairs (2 floors down) calling with a loud voice to me as I was in the house: “Mama open the door, REJoyce melk drinken” (a combination of Dutch and English telling me that REJoyce wanted to nurse). She kept on repeating this until she had climbed up all the stairs and saw me standing in the doorway. She is so sweet!

Next week I will have a conversation with Darlene about returning back to work after my maternity leave. With Jackson having completed his “in class” courses (only working on his thesis/outreach) we will be able to juggle things around between the two of us so we can both take care of our family and get our things done. It is going to be a new season to which we are looking forward!

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

Blessings,

Jackson, Anneke, Hope and REJoyce

Prayer subjects:
– Praise the Lord for His provision for the plane ticket to Mexico
– Pray for strength, grace and wisdom for Anneke as she stays home with the girls during this two week trip
– Pray for protection for Jackson as he travels to Mexico and open doors during his time there
– Continue to pray for our personal finances in which we are short

Dear Family and Friends,

It is now 5 weeks after the birth of our precious daughter REJoyce Zoe Ndecheck on June 14th. These past 5 weeks have been a growing time for our family. Jackson was able to finish his studies and is enjoying a bit of a break now. I have been able to recover quickly from the birth which has been such a great blessing. Last night REJoyce slept for 6 hours straight, which was the breakthrough we as somewhat sleep deprived parents had been waiting for J.

Our 21 month old daughter Hope Shekinah absolutely loves her little sister and this morning she was able to get her to stop crying when I couldn’t;  I was in the kitchen, REJoyce was in the car seat and she was crying. Then Hope came in and before I knew it REJoyce had stopped crying. So I really wondered what she had done. When I looked I saw Hope was rocking the car seat back and forth, sending REJoyce into a peaceful nap. I am so blessed with these two precious girls!

Jackson has been such a blessing to me as well having taking this time off. He took REJoyce for a walk this morning so I could sleep an extra two hours and he frequently goes to the pool or beach with Hope. In this new season we are definitely growing as a family and trying to figure out the best routine for daily life. I am very grateful to be on maternity leave so I don’t have to worry about working and can really focus on the children, the ever growing pile of laundry and the food we are to eat.

Looking forward Jackson is going to be putting into practice much of what he has been trained for over the past years. With the Word by Heart (where he memorized the Gospel of Mark) training he is going to be presenting here in Kona, but also in the UofN workshop at Tijuana Mexico in September.

With his Community Development training he will be taking a team to Nigeria and Cameroon this October-November period to focus on Water & Health Care. If you would like more information about this trip and are interested in joining Jackson, please send an e-mail to: thuisfrontja@gmail.com

The girls and I will be spending time with my family in the Netherlands when Jackson travels and he will join us there after his trip so we can all spend Sinterklaas and Christmas in the Netherlands!

Here in Kona we are also looking forward to the arrival of three Dutch people: next week our friend Jessica arrives to work here on the campus as a mission builder for the summer. The mission builder program is a way to serve the Kona campus by a 40 hour work week in exchange for free room and board. In addition time is spent in daily devotions and weekly activities. We look forward to spending time with her when she is free!

Then in September my sister Martine and her friend Judith are coming for a vacation in Hawaii. I know Hope is going to love going swimming with her aunty and we are all going to love catching up with them.

Thank you so much for all the congratulations cards you sent for the birth of our daughter REJoyce. Thank you also for your continued support in prayers and finances.

Blessings,

Jackson & Anneke, Hope and REJoyce

Personal update May

Dear Family & Friends,

What an exciting time this has been for us. Two weeks ago we moved into our new house and at this point I only have one more box to unpack and then I can focus on decorating the place with some of our pictures etc. I have attached some pictures of the living room, kitchen and balcony so you get the idea of the beautiful space we now have.

June 1st I will fully go on maternity leave which will be 3 weeks before my due date (June 21st). The Lord has provided a lady who will be covering for me at work during my leave and she has already started working, so I feel very much at peace about taking time off to fully prepare and then after the baby is born, to recover.

Hope Shekinah is developing so fast, every day there is something new she discovers or masters, it constantly amazes us. She also loves reading books more and more. She has started memorizing the stories we read to her often and she is able to “fill in the blanks” a game I love to play with her. She also talks a lot now which makes the interaction so much fun and she is able to clearly let us know what she wants to eat/do and where she wants to go. So when we first moved into this new house, she told me she didn’t want to go to the office, but she wanted to stay at home. Well, that is a sign that she really enjoys this place as she normally loves to go to the office. The other day she took my phone, opened the Skype app, put the phone to her ear, so I asked her what she was doing. She answered: I’m calling grandma (“Oma bellen” in Dutch)… 
Other activities the two of us thoroughly enjoy doing are going shopping or swimming. When Jackson comes home the two of them have such a precious play time where I hear constant squeals of laughter, joy and excitement as I try to catch up on chores and some time for myself.

Jackson is trying really hard to get ahead on this last course he is doing, called Community Development, as he hopes to be finished before the baby comes. So he has been diligently reading books, writing book reports in the early morning hours as his schedule is quite intense. He enjoys it a lot and it is a good preparation for application in Nigeria.

This week another precious opportunity has arrived where Jackson has been asked to do a scripture presentation at the community gathering here in Kona. During his last school he memorized the Gospel of Mark. So this Thursday, May 30th he will be giving a 45 minute presentation of selections from this Gospel, all by heart! You can watch this online too during the Livestream which will appear on: www.uofnkona.edu from 6pm till 8pm Hawaii time (so 6:00-8:00 in the morning on Friday in the Netherlands).
I am already very proud of him and he is so passionate about the scriptures, I can’t wait to see it!

Thank you so much for your support, encouragements, love and friendship!

Blessings,

Jackson, Anneke, Hope Shekinah and Baby
