What do you have in your hand, Exodus 4

You know very well the story of Moses running away from Pharaoh into the land of Midian. After about 40 years of staying there, the Lord encountered him and asked him to GO back and lead His people from Egypt to the Promised Land.
Some few key things happened during this encounter in the life of Moses: First Moses needed to realize that his Life was ordained by the Lord from birth for something special, in other words HE WAS NOT A MISTAKE EVEN IF THE STORY OF HIS BIRTH HAD SOME CHALLENGES.

As a result, Moses needed the encounter of His Glorious presence on the Mountain to KNOW THE LORD FOR WHO HE REALLY IS AND HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM SO THAT A LIFE LONG INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WILL BEGIN FROM AN ENCOUNTER and NOT from hearing and telling STORIES ABOUT THE LORD. (Some people give up in life because of their Family background, others because their Parent said ‘’we were not expecting you’’ and yet others because friends do not think they are COOL. Even if you were born in a HOT climate like I and friends mistake that for not being cool, you are here anyways. The truth of the matter is NONE of these circumstances could stop you from being BORN. So you can as well say ‘’It’s too late, I’m here’’. This was the story of Moses’ live before his Encounter with the LORD.
Furthermore, the LORD addressed INFERIORITY in the Life of Moses by sending him back to the King of the land he fears the most because of the Egyptian he killed. Thus addressing the past, so that, Moses could look into the FUTURE with CONFIDENCE.
All these you will read from Chapter 1 through to 3.
Then in chapter 4, after Moses complained with his unbelief to what the Elders of Israel will say, the Lord asked him A VERY KEY QUESTION; what do you have in your hand?
A shepherd staff, Moses replied.
This holds an important part of our lives as we work into the Destiny and Calling that He has for us even before the foundation of the Earth.
Most times we look at ourselves in light of what others think, and as a result we even lay that which is in our hands because they see no VALUE in it. If I was in the position of Moses, it will surprise me to hear the LORD asking about what I’m holding unto in my hand and NOT what I have in my heart. But the LORD knew the heart of Moses just like He knows you and I today dear friends. He called the attention of Moses to the area of his greatest STRENGTH in leading the people into the Promised Land ”THE SHEPHERD STAFF” If he will use the SKILLS and Patience of a SHEPERD and see that as a time of preparation in Midian, he will be the LEADER Israel NEEDED at that point in time and surely it was SO.
As you reflect over these chapters, consider the question the LORD asked Moses as directed to you; WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND?
