Dear Family and Friends,
Time is really flying by and we have just finished our first week in Nigeria after spending two weeks in Cameroon. It is great to be back in the campus here in Port Harcourt where Jackson and I started our marriage life in missions.
4 Friends of us have come from the United States and they are currently helping improve the piggery and design a fish pond for the campus here to make it more self-sustaining. In the
mean time they are learning the ropes of what it takes to build things in Nigeria, which will be of great help to us when we start the University of the Nations in Calabar. Paul Dangtoumda, our national director, spent several hours yesterday sharing the testimonies of the faithfulness of God in how this place was established and what the fruits of the work are so far. It was really humbling and encouraging to hear his testimony.
Hope Shekinah is loving it here as she has two big girl friends: Paula (15) and Vicky (13). They take her around a lot and she loves the constant change of scenery and all the attention. She struggled a little when her first two bottom teeth came through last week, but now she seems to be enjoying biting into everything, especially Nigerian bananas!
I have gotten great help in the kitchen from a lady called Mercy. I am so challenged by her servant heart and tireless energy. Thanks to her I actually have time to rest, which I am very much enjoying.
Next week we all plan to travel for a short trip to Calabar where we will get a taste of this city. After this Jackson, Hope Shekinah and myself will travel to Cameroon in order to apply for Jackson’s visa for the Netherlands. I am soooo looking forward to the time to see all my family and friends back at home. And I am also looking forward to all the food.
Love and blessings,
Jackson, Anneke and Hope
